About The Climb

Hi, We are Ben and Caroline Lomax and we'd like to thank you for taking a look at our website which should explain why and what we're doing.

On 31st August 2011 we are aiming to climb over 19,000 feet to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. We're doing this to raise funds for "The Christie" through a gruelling 8 consecutive days of walking. In all honesty we've never been the fit family but we are now hard pressing ourselves in getting fit for the challenge!!!

"The Christie" is one of the leading European Cancer Hospitals, treating more than 40,000 people each year. It serves a population of 3.2 million patients across Greater Manchester and Cheshire but as a national specialist also takes in 26% of patients from across the country through referrals.

They provide services for Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer and a wide range of support and diagnostic services.

They are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years. Their clinical trials unit is the largest early phase trials unit in the world, with around 200 trials ongoing at any one time.

Unfortunately cancer is something that will more than likely affect most of us at some point in our lives, whether that be directly or through someone we know and love.

How To Sponsor

Sponsoring "The Christie Flag"

If you can help, we are looking for sponsors for our flag which we are going to take to the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro.

What is "The Christie Flag"?

The flag is a huge 6m x 4m in size and is split in to 96 half meter squares that you can sponsor for �100.00 each. There is no limit apart from the number of spaces available to how many you can sponsor. When we reach the peak we are going to unleash the flag in all its glory and take a photograph of it so that on our return we can provide a copy to all our generous sponsors in addition to a copy of our video diary we will be making by way of a thank you. Feel free to use this as marketing for your business to show you are supporting such a worthy cause. We can even send you a photograph before we do the climb to build up support and awareness of the climb to help raise even more money if you like!

Who can sponsor?

Are you a business who would like your logo on our flag? Maybe a person who would like to dedicate a space to someone battling cancer or who has unfortunately passed from cancer. Or even someone who just believes this is a bloody good cause and wants to help support us and "The Christie".

How do I sponsor?

1. Simply email lomaxben@hotmail.co.uk and let us know how many spaces you would like to sponsor.
2. Then decide what you want in your box/es. Company logo? Someone's photograph? Or simply just wording?
3. We will then look to arrange to collect your sponsorship as soon as possible so we can pass all donations on to "The Christie".
